What To Expect

Southern Hill Veterinary Services – Delivered with Courtesy and Respect!

As a new client of our Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital in Tulsa, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs.

Veterinarian Examining a Dog at Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we’ll usher you into an examination room after checking in your pet.

In most cases, one of our veterinary technicians will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor.

Then, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask you further questions and then may recommend diagnostic tests if needed.

Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.

This is a great time to ask questions!

Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.

Our veterinary technician will likely come back to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer wellness and care questions for you. Our front desk staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers From Our Tulsa Veterinarians

Our highly trained Tulsa veterinarians are available to answer any questions you might have about your pet and their health. If you don’t see an answer to your question below, give us a call at (918) 203-6339 or contact us online. We’ll be happy to answer any questions specific to your pet!

What is preventative medicine?

Preventative medicine involves the idea that it’s easier to prevent illness than to cure a disease. We take this theory to heart!

By regularly visiting our Tulsa veterinarians, your pet will have a complete history on file that will help us identify changes in their health early. This is critical to maintaining your pet’s longevity and quality of life; early treatment of illness can prevent complications and suffering.

Make sure you’re visiting Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital at least every six months.

Should I spay or neuter my pet?

We recommend that both dogs and cats are spayed or neutered when they are still fairly young.

Spaying or neutering has both medical and behavioral benefits for your pet, which can improve their quality of life as well as your own.

The cost of spaying or neutering your pet is also comparably less than the cost of having to care for a new litter of puppies or kittens.

I noticed a change in my pet’s behavior. What should I do?

A change in behavior in your pet can mean a lot of things.

If they’re suddenly acting lethargic, having trouble eating, or not participating in their usual activities, it’s possible that they’re feeling under the weather.

Give us a call as soon as you notice your pet behaving differently than usual. We’ll help you get your pet back to their normal, cheerful selves.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked by calling (918) 203-6339. We’ll work with you to find a time that works best for your schedule.

If you’re a new patient, we’ll ask you to fill out our New Client Registration form online before you come to Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital for your first appointment.

I have a question that isn’t answered here.

Give us a call! We’re available six days a week. You can also fill out our online contact form if you have a non-urgent question.

Depending on your question, we might ask for you to come into the clinic for a follow-up appointment. We’re here for you and your pet, no matter what question you might have!
